Track Meets
The Eagles compete with other Valley Conference track and field clubs in weekly meets. Qualifying athletes can go on to compete at regional and national meets. Conference track meets are every Saturday during the season. There are a total of six meets held in April and May, including three home meets at Taft High School and three away meets at the tracks of other clubs. Check the latest season calendar for details.

Meet results
You will find meet results by event posted on the Valley Conference website, valleyconference.org/track.

Conference Dress Code
As a Valley Conference club, the Eagles are required to comply with a basic dress code for all athletes at conference meets.

  • Shirts, shorts and good running shoes are recommended. No cross trainers, court shoes, or high tops.
  • Spikes are to be worn only when instructed to do so by your coach. Spikes may not be worn off the running surface at any time.
  • Official Club uniform must be worn at all meets. Uniforms will be issued the week before the first Valley Conference meet.
  • Blue, black, or white tights (solid colors only) may be worn under team shorts at track meets. Improper dress, jewelry items, or accessories will lead to an athlete’s disqualification from an event.

Meet Events
The following events are held by age division at weekly meets. If an athlete is participating in the maximum number of events in the Bantam, Midget, Youth or Intermediate divisions, one of the events must be a relay.

Meet Events Schedule
The duration of meets depends on several factors, including the number of track clubs and athletes participating and the number of volunteers helping to run the meet. The duration can vary by as much as an hour from the scheduled times listed below. Upon arriving at a meet, athletes should check in with their coach and get their event tags which are the identification labels with their name, athlete number, and the events in which they will participate. There are track events and field events.

Reminders for Practices & Meets
Here are a few reminders to help to help your athlete enjoy the season and keep the Eagles in good standing with Taft High School, which generously allows the Club to use their facilities.

  • Do not park in the Ralph’s parking lot across from Taft High School. This is a major cause of complaints to the school and the Eagles could lose track privileges.
  • Please be on time to pick up your child after practice. It is easier and safer for our kids and more courteous to our volunteer coaches.
  • Make sure your child has something warm to put on after practice, like sweats.
  • All personal belongings should be labeled. Lost and found items will be donated to local charities.

Rainouts
If it is raining on a practice night or the day of a meet, call the the Eagles office, (818) 754-5732, for a message confirming a rainout–please do not call your coach or Board members to confirm rainouts. On practice days with light rain, we can still run on the grass, stretch, and do other training alternatives if the track is too wet. If you are leaving your child at practice, make sure you stay with them for a few minutes to be sure that practice will be held.On meet days, rainouts are decided by the Valley Conference and the Clubs will be notified of their decision. It is best to go to the meet site, where we will assess the weather and inform our members. In the past, we have moved a meet to a better track due to conditions, so it is best to go to the meet site.
